"We all only live once. So we are obligated to make good use of the time that we have and to do something that is meaningful
and satisfying. [WikiLeaks] is something that I find meaningful and satisfying. That is my temperament. I enjoy creating systems
on a grand scale, and I enjoy helping people who are vulnerable. And I enjoy crushing bastards." — Julian Assange

"Courage is contagious." — Julian Assange

"Capable, generous men do not create victims, they nurture victims." — stated value of Julian Assange

"Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freedom of speech."
— Ben Franklin [1706-90], in 1722

"The people have a right to the truth as they have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Frank Norris [1870-1902]

"There should be at least one leak like the Pentagon Papers every year."
Daniel Ellsberg [1931-2023]

  • 2024 June 2024: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange agreed to a plea bargain where he will go free after pleading guilty. Assange has been pursued vindictively for several years after publishing a trove of sensitive classified documents. The agreement has Assange plead guilty to a single felony charge of illegally obtaining & disclosing U.S. national security material; he will then be sentenced to the time he has already served in a British prison while fighting extradition to the U.S. and allowed to return to his native Australia. He is scheduled to appear in a U.S. federal court in the Northern Mariana Islands to enter the plea and is then hop a flight to Australia.

2021 Monday Jan 3: British Magistrate Vanessa Baraitser refused to order the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States to face espionage charges, saying it would be 'oppressive' due to his mental health; U.S. prosecutors want Assange to be brought to Northern Virginia for trial and they said that they would appeal. Assange has been charged with 18 federal crimes, including conspiring to obtain and disclose classified U.S. diplomatic cables, military reports from Iraq and Afghanistan, and other secret government documents. Assange's lawyers argued that the U.S. is targeting Assange for 'purely political' reasons.
